PLDC - On Thursday (8/10/2002), the news of the murder of Laleh
Saharkhizan, the wife of Naser MohammadKhani (Persepolis player), came as a shock to
Iran and the football circles. Naser MohammadKhani was immediately flown back to Iran accompanied by Vahid
Ghelich on the next day and only two days before the end of the Persepolis preparatory camp in Hanover,
Germany.
Twenty minutes before the landing of the plane in Tehran Ghelich informed his friend of the terrible news. A shocked, disbelieving
MohammadKhani screamed and shed tears during the rest of the flight. The other
passengers in the plane then joined in the mourning and spoke words of comfort until their arrival in Tehran. The whole MohammadKhani clan then
met him at the airport and shared his pain.
Laleh Saharkhizan, 32 years old with 2 children, was murdered at her home. The murderer put her to death using a sharp object and stabbing the
resisting victim 14 times. The reasons for the slaying are unknown. The
body of Laleh was discovered by her children returning home from school.
